In 2368, underwent field training for tactical division. Excelled in simulations. That year, promoted to lieutenant, assigned as relief tactical officer. Served with distinction. In 2370, stardate 47025, beamed to surface of uncharted planet with majority of crew to search for Lieutenant Commander Data, later found to have been kidnapped by a group of self-aware Borg. Upon BarnabyΓÇÖs return to ship, served under Dr. Beverly Crusher, left in temporary command of Enterprise in absence of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Barnaby successfully used the Borg planet itself to hide Enterprise from detection by a hostile Borg ship, allowing enought time to successfully beam aboard away teams left on planetΓÇÖs surface. Assisted with setting up metaphasic shielding that allowed Enterprise to hide in corona of nearby star. Also assisted Acting Science Officer Taitt with plan to successfully induce a solar-fusion eruption, destroying the enemy ship. After destruction of Enterprise-D in 2371, transferred as relief tactical officer on U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E.
